About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic Unit Director to lead and manage all aspects of our unit, ensuring exceptional patient care, a healthy workplace for staff, and operational excellence. This role involves 24-hour accountability for clinical quality, staff hiring and development, shared governance, and budget management. The Unit Director will foster professional growth, drive patient safety improvements, and collaborate with medical staff to enhance outcomes. Requirements

  • BS/BSN required; Master’s degree/MSN preferred. If BS is not in nursing, a Master’s in Nursing is required. Candidates without a Master's must enroll within one year of hire and complete it within three years.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience; relevant clinical experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and interpersonal abilities to evaluate staff, resolve complex clinical issues, and foster a positive, collaborative environment.
  • Expertise in age-specific patient care, principles of growth and development, and data interpretation to address diverse patient needs.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the practicing state or a multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) license.
  • Excellent communication and the ability to build relationships with patients, families, staff, and senior management to support a healing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with medical staff to monitor patient outcomes, set clinical priorities, and implement safety and quality initiatives.
  • Analyze performance data, develop action plans for quality improvement, and share best practices across units.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and encourage staff involvement in quality and professional development initiatives.
  • Foster strong internal and external relationships through mentoring, effective communication, and conflict resolution.
  • Support staff well-being with schedules that promote safety, healthy lifestyles, and a positive work environment.
  • Lead change management efforts, involving stakeholders in planning and supporting transitions effectively.
  • Ensure patient-centered care aligned with national standards, evidence-based practices, and organizational goals.
  • Manage department resources and budgets responsibly, aligning with clinical and financial priorities.
  • Drive staff development through training, mentorship, shared governance, and professional certifications.
  • Support leadership growth in Clinicians by guiding mentorship, recruitment, and performance management efforts.
