About The Position

Unit Coordinator - Med Surg Pulmonary PRN/Optional - TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital Location: 10500 Montgomery Rd, Montgomery, OH 45242 Work Schedule: PRN/Optional (will cover one 12 hour shift per week) 6:30am - 7:00pm Every 3rd weekend rotation Holiday rotation The 5300 Medical-Surgical Renal/Pulmonary Unit at TriHealth Bethesda North is a 43-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with renal and pulmonary conditions, including COPD exacerbations and dialysis complications. Our diverse patient population provides a dynamic environment that allows nurses to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge in a fast-paced environment. Our team focuses on professional growth, mastering essential skills such as peritoneal dialysis , time management, and delivering compassionate patient care. Nurses on 5300 gain valuable experience and expertise while working alongside a supportive and collaborative team. Nurses are equipped with significant technical knowledge related to the respiratory system , the ability to detect aberrant respiratory functions through auscultation, and a deep understanding of renal clearance and medications . Our team is skilled in interpreting lab values and applying them to patient care, helping to ensure the best outcomes for patients with complex medical needs. Our unit encourages and supports nurses in obtaining professional certifications, including Medical-Surgical (MED-SURG), Geriatric (GERO-BC), and Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN). We are affiliated with respected professional organizations such as the ANCC, ANA, the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, and the American Society of Nephrology, ensuring that our nurses stay connected to the latest advancements in the field. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Degree or GED (Required)
Capable of operating office and clerical equipment
Computer skills

Responsibilities

Communicates appropriately and effectively with internal and external customers (i.e. staff, patients, families, other departments, etc.).
Relays accurate and complete information.
Maintains confidentiality.
Takes an active role in maintaining patient satisfaction (i.e. way-finding, quick response to call lights and phones, etc.).
Demonstrates ability to appropriately respond to and prioritize work.
Removes medications from the tube system and places in appropriate locked cabinet.
Responds appropriately to emergency situations (i.e. Code Blue, Rapid Response Team, fire, Special Alert).
Demonstrates knowledge/use of emergency systems, policies and procedures.
Performs computer down time procedures according to unit/TriHealth guidelines.
Demonstrates/maintains knowledge of organizational and unit changes.
Supports organizational and unit changes.
Acknowledges need for self-growth and accountability.
Identifies areas for self-improvement.
Maintains proficient knowledge of computer applications specific to unit/job (i.e. maintaining census, accurate scanning of documents, accurate transcription of physician orders in facilities not yet live on TriHealth Connect).
Is knowledgeable of the function/operation of equipment specific to the role on the unit.
