About The Position

The Unit Computing Specialist position at Rutgers University-New Brunswick is a vital role within the Division of Enrollment Management (EMNB), which encompasses various student-facing and administrative units. The EM-IT team, which the Unit Computing Specialist will be a part of, is responsible for providing timely consultation and technical support to ensure the effective use of technology across the division. This includes streamlining shared technologies, implementing new platforms, and improving standards and procedures related to computing and business operations. In this role, the Unit Computing Specialist will handle both onsite and remote IT support for the division, providing technical assistance and consultation to various units. The specialist will supervise student workers and interns, manage desktop support, maintain device inventory, and provide technical assistance for events. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for maintaining websites associated with the division, ensuring that all technological resources are utilized effectively to support the mission of EMNB. The position requires a strong foundation in computer science or a related field, along with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences. The specialist will need to demonstrate excellent organizational skills, analytical abilities, and problem-solving skills to address a wide range of computing-related issues. The role is full-time, with a standard workweek of 37.5 hours, and may require scheduled evening or weekend work as necessary.
