About The Position

APPLICANTS MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE CLERICAL ASSOCIATE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE Domestic Violence Services (DVS) provides a variety of comprehensive immediate and long-term support services to survivors of Domestic Violence and their families. DVS provides oversight for the largest domestic shelter system in the country which provides safety and services for this vulnerable population. This network of more than 55 emergency domestic violence shelters provides temporary emergency housing, and supportive services to over 17,500 victims of domestic violence and their children annually. DVS provides oversight and funding for the 24-hour domestic violence hotline. DVS also administers the No Violence Again (NOVA) program located at the DHS intake center, and the Domestic Violence Liaison Unit, which provides domestic violence counseling and intervention at Job Centers. DVS partners with a network of community-based organizations, that provide counseling, legal services, financial development services, and job readiness for domestic violence survivors. The Clerical Associate position III position with the NYC HRA Domestic Violence Services (DVS) ADVENT team proves essential administrative and clerical support to programs serving domestic violence survivors. The ADVENT team is a specialized unit addressing the needs of survivors in emergency shelters who are receiving public assistance, to ensure their safety in the community. DVS is recruiting for one (1) Clerical Associate III to function as Unit Clerk, who will:

Requirements

  • APPLICANTS MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE CLERICAL ASSOCIATE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
  • Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support, including sorting documents, coordinating communications, and assisting with reporting needs.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment; monitor usage and reorder as necessary to ensure smooth daily operations and oversee general office organization.
  • Provide professional telephone coverage by answering and directing calls, taking messages, and responding to general inquiries from clients, service providers, and staff.
  • Prepare, review, copy, scan and index documents; maintain organized records and files for agency use and document archiving.
