Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical office functions, Medicare, Medicaid and insurance guidelines preferred.
  • One year relevant experience in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to relate well with a variety of people and to sustain an attitude of respect for all individuals.
  • Commitment to the team problem-solving approach using a patient-focused model.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of tasks requiring prioritization and discretion.
  • Greets patients, visitors and others and provides information to them.
  • Participates in ensuring patient’s comfort and personal care activities.
  • May performs variety of clinic activities such as scheduling, insurance verification, balancing of co-pay money and balancing of daily or weekly deposits.
  • Interfaces with physicians and other staff on a regular basis.
  • May do limited coding and/or charge entry.
  • Performs various other administrative duties as needed.
  • Manage and maintain daily schedules; notify staff of changes.
  • Process patient through Check-In and Out; Obtain and verify most current patient information
  • Obtain and scan insurance/Rx cards into EMR system; Verify insurance eligibility.
  • Collect co-pays and monies owed. Complete Payment Plans as necessary.
  • Reconcile payment batches and other end of day tasks as assigned
  • Answer phone calls within 3 rings and route to the appropriate individuals.
  • Other duties as assigned
