Join the best of the best! We are actively seeking a WEEKEND Unit Clerk/Assistant to join our amazing team. The Unit Clerk/ Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units; coordinating work within the unit as well as with other units and departments; reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries and requests from staff personnel, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Helps patients by responding to intercom requests; obtaining needed services from nurses, licensed practical nurses, physicians, aides, and other facility personnel.
  • Welcomes visitors by greeting visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering inquiries; relaying calls to patients; giving directions; referring inquiries to nursing and physician staff.
  • Establishes patient record by preparing folder; assigning patient number; completing patient identification information.
  • Documents patient care services by copying nursing and physician notes to patient and department records.
  • Arranges discharges by notifying business office and patient transporter service
  • Prepares and compiles records in nursing unit of hospital or medical facility: Records name of patient, address, and name of attending physician to prepare medical records on new patients.
  • Records information, such as physicians' orders and instructions, dietary requirements, and medication information, on patient charts and medical records.
  • Answers telephone and intercom calls and provides information or relays messages to patients and medical staff.
  • May transport patients in wheelchair or conveyance to locations within facility
  • Maintenance tasks relating to chart order, chart accuracy and chart current data.
  • Keep all necessary lists and schedules.
  • Stock units with office and medical supplies weekly; prepare requisitions to maintain established inventories.
  • Fax and photocopy information as needed.
