What You’ll Do The Unit Clerk offers an exceptional patient experience for patients in our Medical Surgical unit. This role is the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, helping keep the unit running smoothly and supporting our clinical teams. Main duties include a variety of clerical tasks and receptionist functions related to patient check-in and discharge processes. The ideal candidate builds and maintains an effective rapport with patients, providers, coworkers and community members. Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in person and over the phone Answer calls, emails, and pages, and direct questions to the right person Respond to patient call lights and help coordinate needed support with nursing and other departments Enter physician orders accurately Prepare and maintain patient charts, folders, and packets Complete admission and discharge paperwork and ensure all documentation is in the right place At times, help interview patients, complete registration forms, assist with transfers, and schedule follow-up appointments Protect patient privacy by handling all information confidentially Help keep the unit organized by checking supply levels, placing supply orders, and verifying deliveries Maintain a clean and safe work area Support the department with other tasks as needed

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years experience in a medical office setting preferred.
