DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: 5 north is a 34-bed unit and care for patients aged 19 through 100 plus. The unit's scope of service is the Care of adult post-operative Neurosurgery, Urology Surgery, Stroke, Baclofen Pumps, I-131 Radiology Thyroid patients, General Medicine Patients & Orthopedic Overflow. The unit is a racetrack style with 17 patient rooms on each side. Charting alcoves are located outside of every other room. The unit has telemetry monitoring capability for 12 patients. SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager provides support for patients, visitors and colleagues on assigned nursing units. Facilitates efficient patient throughput including admissions, discharges and transfers. Supports patient experience and culture of safety goals through equipment maintenance, unit supplies, unit appearance and overall environment of care. Provides reception type services to patients, families, visitors and other unit guests.
