About The Position

The position involves maintaining the integrity of medical records and providing essential clerical support within a healthcare setting. The role requires effective communication skills, as the individual will be responsible for answering telephone calls courteously, facilitating communication among team members, and acting as a receptionist for new admissions, visitors, and healthcare professionals. The individual will also handle various administrative tasks related to patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring compliance with medical staff rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience as a UA preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desired.
  • Customer Service experience preferred.
  • Ability for attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains integrity of medical records.
  • Answers telephone courteously stating location, name & title.
  • Facilitates communication of all calls to the appropriate team member.
  • Conveys potential problems with charge nurse/point person.
  • Acts as a receptionist: greeting new admissions, visitors, physicians and all members of the health care team.
  • Picks up mail from the mail-room, sorts and distributes mail.
  • Performs all admission, transfer and discharge functions.
  • Assigns beds collaborating with charge nurse/point person in accordance with Medical Staff rules & regulations, and Administrative guidelines.
  • Completes all clerical duties for discharges, transfers, admissions, and expirations.
  • Maintains patient boards and logs up-to-date.
  • Performs computer downtime procedure including completion of required forms.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Adheres to Standard Precautions and infection control policies.
  • Maintains an orderly and clean safe environment.
  • Follows fire and safety regulations and reports environmental and safety hazards appropriately.
