About The Position

The Unit Associate I position at Atlantic Health System is a full-time role focused on providing support within the Cardiac Access unit at Morristown Medical Center. The associate acts as a liaison between patients, families, visitors, and hospital personnel, ensuring effective communication and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include managing information systems, maintaining patient records, and fostering a positive environment that respects patient privacy and dignity.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Six months of healthcare work experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of six months of steady work history is required.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with hospital operations is preferred.
  • Ability to identify clinical and environmental emergency situations and follow established procedures is necessary.
  • Highly effective interpersonal communication skills to interface with staff, patients, families, and visitors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with hospital information systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and hospital personnel.
  • Function as the unit receptionist, answering phones and directing calls appropriately.
  • Utilize the paging system and respond promptly to patient calls.
  • Direct volunteers and ensure their assignments are followed through.
  • Maintain hospital information systems and perform routine computer upgrades.
  • Keep Clinical Information Systems printer stocked and operational.
  • Facilitate repair of equipment by notifying appropriate support teams.
  • Update Unit Representative manual and instruct nursing personnel on system usage.
  • Maintain updated patient information and inform staff of any changes.
  • Keep the manager informed of coverage issues.
  • Respond to patient needs in a timely manner and respect their rights to privacy and confidentiality.
