About The Position

Care for our community, and your career. The Unit Aide provides compassionate patient care to mother baby couplets. Under the direction of the registered nurse, this individual provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with other patient care team members including the patient and family, to achieve optimal patient outcomes. All care is provided under the direction and supervision of a registered or licensed nurse. The Unit Aide assists with activities of daily living and delegated patient care treatments and procedures. Is responsible to assist with ambulation of patients, turning patients and promoting comfort. The Unit Aide prepares the surgical suite prior to cesarean births and supports the SST and circulating RN. The Unit Aide is responsible for maintaining medical records, transcribing orders, answering telephones, and taking and relying messages appropriately. Requirements

  • High school level of knowledge.
  • Previous experience, nursing student or graduate from a nursing assistant program.
  • Must be able to write legibly and be able to document accurately, type of care given.
  • Must be able to communicate information to supervisor and co-workers.
  • Must be familiar with equipment used to move patients, take vital signs and document.
  • Knowledge in the use of cleaning/sterilization/disinfection of equipment and instrumentation utilized in the clinical operating room setting.
  • BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Maternity and/or medical surgical experience preferred.
  • Computer experience preferred.
  • Works effectively with others, possess tact, discretion and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work under stress and complete duties sometimes with numerous interruptions.
  • May need to work beyond scheduled hours when necessary.
