For more than 70 years, Mercy Medical Center Redding has offered comprehensive health care in the North State, providing acute care and a full range of medical services. The 267-bed hospital offers major medical services including a Level II Trauma Center as well as specialized Cardiovascular Care, Stroke Care, Orthopedics, Neurological Surgery, Comprehensive Cancer Care, Maternity Care, and da Vinci Robotic Surgery. It is the sole provider of obstetrical services, along with the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County. One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Unit Aide, you will provide essential non-clinical support and comfort to patients and staff, assisting other members of the healthcare team with providing basic patient care under the direction of a Staff Nurse. Every day you will support daily unit operations by assisting with patient comfort needs, transporting patients, performing light cleaning, stocking supplies, and relaying messages to nurses to ensure an organized environment. To be successful in this role, you will exhibit a helpful, compassionate demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining unit efficiency and team support within a dynamic healthcare setting.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Previous Unit Aide experience. If operationally able, Hospital will consider training a non-experienced incumbent
• Basic Life Support through an American Heart Association provider

• Experience in healthcare environment
• Certified Nursing Assistant: CA

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care under the direction of the RN which includes assisting with patient ADL routine, measurement of intake and output and obtaining vital signs
• Completes appropriate documentation which includes patient records ensuring it is completed according to hospital policy
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth by taking advantage of the available opportunities
• Participates in peer review and staff development, which includes unit and quality process improvement activities
• Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict
• Communicates as appropriate with other members of the healthcare team
