About The Position

Utility Technicians are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the maintenance and operation of the water distribution system and wastewater collection system.

Requirements

Requires High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience
TCEQ Class C Water license OR Class I Wastewater Collection license required
Valid Texas Class A CDL required at time of hire
Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class A driver's license within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

Plans crews' daily assignments
Lead and train crews to install, repair and maintain water distribution and wastewater collections systems.
Operate back hoe and other large excavation equipment.
Train employees for CDL and proper equipment operation.
Ensure proper dosing and disinfection of water mains and repair material.
Review, interpret, and train crew members on maps, plans, and drawings.
Create permits for street cuts and confined space entry, ensure traffic control plans, trench safety and worksite safety practices are followed.
Coordinate installation of well pointed and by-pass pumps.
Create work orders, log time, material, equipment, and work performed in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Provide customer service while performing responsibilities.
Coordinate activities on the job site with engineers, construction inspectors, other City departments, and external customers.
May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
