Requirements

• On-the-job, vocational, trade school, etc. required.
• Four (4) years as a professional painter preferably in a hospital -required.

Nice To Haves

• Journeyman card -preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surfaces for painting, including washing, scraping, sanding, and filling nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other filler.
• Applies coats of paint, varnish, enamels to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings, and equipment of the hospital.
• Uses paint brushes, rollers, and scrapers.
• Refinishes articles, such as cabinets and doors.
• Selects premixed paints and blends and mixes paints and stains as needed.
• Spreads cloths or canvas over floors and furniture to protect them from spattered paint.
• Keeps records of time spent per job and materials used.
• Performs routine plastering work as assigned.
• Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and departmental safety programs.
• Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.
