About The Position

The Union Janitor at our Warren facility plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment that supports efficient manufacturing operations. This position ensures that all assigned areas, including production floors, restrooms, break rooms, and common spaces, are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to established standards. The janitor contributes to workplace safety by promptly addressing spills, debris, and other hazards, thereby minimizing risks for all employees. Working as part of a unionized team, the janitor collaborates with supervisors and colleagues to uphold facility cleanliness and comply with health and safety regulations. Ultimately, this role supports the overall productivity and well-being of the plant workforce by fostering a hygienic and orderly work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous janitorial or custodial experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with union work environments and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Certification in occupational safety or hazardous materials handling.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated reliability and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal across all designated areas within the plant.
  • Sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and break areas to maintain high standards of hygiene and prevent the spread of illness.
  • Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, including floor scrubbers, buffers, and pressure washers.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to union guidelines, safety protocols, and company policies while performing all duties.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for special events or shifts as required.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishment when necessary.
