About The Position

The Union Janitor at the Milwaukee PDC plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all employees, visitors, and clients within the facility. This position ensures that all designated areas, including offices, restrooms, break rooms, and common spaces, are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to union standards and company policies. The janitor will contribute to the overall operational efficiency by promptly addressing cleaning needs and reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards. This role requires adherence to union guidelines and collaboration with other team members to uphold a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene. Ultimately, the janitor's efforts support a productive workplace atmosphere and help promote the health and well-being of everyone at the Milwaukee PDC.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to union guidelines.
  • Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment and techniques.
  • Certification in OSHA safety standards or similar workplace safety training.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and coordinate with team members.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in previous roles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal in all assigned areas.
  • Sanitize restrooms, including replenishing supplies and ensuring fixtures are clean and functional.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, reporting any shortages or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Follow all safety protocols and union regulations while performing cleaning duties to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other janitorial staff and facility management to coordinate cleaning schedules and special projects.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or security concerns observed during cleaning rounds.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings or special events as needed.
