About The Position

The Union Data Center Installer is responsible for the installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment. This role requires delivering sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, with a focus on continuous improvement. The installer will provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders and is expected to exhibit quality workmanship while maintaining cleanliness in the Data Center. Adherence to production, safety, and quality standards, as well as industry best practices, is essential. Collaboration with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles is also a key responsibility. The installer must be able to read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation, as well as have a broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
  • Understanding of customer service.
  • Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring tests.
  • Ability to perform 4 pair continuity testing.
  • Experience pulling all types of low voltage cable including copper telecom cable.
  • Experience performing all types of copper field terminations.
  • Ability to install ladder racking and seismic bracing.
  • Experience patching network equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand port maps/matrices.
  • Ability to read and understand job floor plans and TC drawings.
  • Capability in performing field terminations and labeling.
  • Experience installing copper and fiber cabling and labeling.
  • Ability to affix labels to cabling and power cords.
  • Ability to affix bar coding to equipment.
  • Experience cutting and installing threaded rod, Uni-strut, and fiber trough.
  • Ability to create/test bonding whips, straps, and connections.
  • Understanding of the basics of FIM and operation of scanner.
  • Experience installing and testing coax cabling (series 6 & 11).
  • Experience installing OSP cables through conduits and maintenance.
  • Experience installing pull strings through conduits and in ceilings.
  • Experience installing ISP cables through conduits and in ceilings.
  • Experience installing box eliminators (mud rings) in drywall.
  • Knowledge of how to install/maintain firestopping.
  • Understanding and usage of fiber types (SM/MM/Ribbon).
  • Experience installing and servicing network equipment.
  • Experience installing ISP/OSP into cable enclosures (OSE).
