About The Position

The Digital Technology Services (DTS) Unified Communications (UC) Engineer I is responsible for analytical tasks and activities associated with the organization's voice communication infrastructure as part of the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) UC Team. The scope of responsibility for this position includes, but is not limited to the configuration, deployment, testing, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of telecommunications network components to provide secure, highly-available services for local and remote locations. Duties also entail quality assurance and testing of transmission mediums and infrastructure components. Performs work primarily under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other related area of study.
  • An applicable technical certificate or equivalent related work experience may be accepted.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Unified Communications/PBX user administration and data communications installation.
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency with Cisco IP Phones, Cisco Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Jabber, Cisco Unity Connection (CUC), Cisco Instant Message & Presence Server (IM&P), Cisco Contact Center Express (UCCX), Cisco IOS Gateways with Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), SIP Trunking, Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony, and Cisco Mobile & Remote Access.
  • Detail oriented, strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of prior experience in IT related discipline.
  • Healthcare experience.
