About The Position

We are seeking an Unemployment Coordinator to join the Employee Relations and Performance team within Central Human Resources at the CU Anschutz Campus. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing unemployment claim processes, ensuring timely and accurate responses, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. This position also partners closely with supervisors and HR colleagues to support effective employment practices across the campus and contribute to a consistent, fair, and compliant employee experience.

Requirements

  • Entry Level: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • Intermediate Level: Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • 1 year of professional level experience in human resources. A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with HCM (Human Capital Management)/HRIS system
  • Experience with Equifax unemployment claims process
  • Experience working with Colorado’s Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) legislation and administration and the unemployment process.

  • Experience working in human resource management at an institution of higher education
  • Experience providing HR support directly to leadership and/or management positions.

  • Thorough knowledge of current management and leadership methods and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Unemployment Program (80% at Intermediate level): Serves as the primary consultant for the Employee Relations and Performance team on unemployment claims which includes documentation review to determine eligibility, processing, responding to claims, analysis/tracking of data, and management of communications. This role also responds to State of Colorado inquiries as well as 3rd party entities on behalf of the University. Serves as the primary consultant for the Employee Relations and Performance team on unemployment claims, including responding to inquiries from the State of Colorado and third‑party entities. Ensuring all communications and submissions are timely, accurate, compliant, and aligned with university policies. Evaluates documentation, processes and tracks claims, analyzes trends, and coordinates with managers and leadership to gather necessary information or testimony. Represents the University in unemployment hearings as needed.
  • HR Campus Leave Support (10% at Intermediate level): Supports ERP team as needed to consult on employee leave cases.
  • Employee Relations Process Administration (10% Intermediate level) Manages general ERP team email inbox and either resolves on own or routes to the appropriate consultant.
