How you will create an impact: Manages all underwriting within an AIGRM assigned Branch Office and handles referral decisions for the most complex portfolios. This role takes on a strategic component in the development, implementation and evaluation of all underwriting strategies and guidelines within an AIGRM zone, including pricing, marketing, staff, business development, renewals, budget/expenses and new product development. This position has accountability for the business results of their Branch Office with respect to profitability, broker penetration, within a specific loss sensitive or guaranteed cost account. Manages product line to desired objectives, making decisions in response to market conditions and provides necessary training within their respective zone. Plans, manages, and evaluates work of staff; makes decisions regarding pay, performance management, development, employment, and staffing. Responsible for local decision making while ensuring the consistent execution of strategic initiatives. Drive consistent underwriting best practices and guidelines, in accordance with AIGRM Home Office directives, to ensure rating, pricing, profitability, and structuring adequacy. Ensure effective utilization of detailed monitoring standards including quality reviews and self-audits to assess underwriting results and compliance. Handle referrals on difficult and/or unique risks or larger more sophisticated deals within stated authority. Execution of division marketing strategy. Management of relationships between local customers and distribution partners. Collaborates with the Regional Underwriting Manager to develop and execute a local strategic vision. Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, diversity and inclusion; successfully conduct talent acquisition, employee engagement and performance monitoring/evaluation work; lead through example

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years staff management.
  • Minimum 10 years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Understand regulatory and compliance processes.
  • Must be able to forecast and budget accurately.
  • Broad insurance industry experience.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution.
  • Process and system skills.
  • Technical underwriting experience with a broad view.
  • Experience with actuarial data and underwriting modeling techniques.
