JOB DESCRIPTION: This comprehensive program allows the candidate to foster an excellent foundation which aligns their skillset in either commercial small business or middle market through an exciting, growth-focused part of the organization in the Underwriting Hub. Under close supervision, trainees will learn underwriting practices by participating in formal and on-the-job training over their first 12 months with the organization. Trainees will have exposure to a diverse variety of accounts in different geographies, sizes, and complexity as they develop alongside others in their Trainee cohort in either Chicago, IL or Littleton, CO (Denver). Upon completion of the program, Trainees will move into Underwriting roles in the Hub for small or middle markets in their training location or other available locations across the country. CNA's underwriters are responsible for selecting and pricing risks that have profit potential. The process requires underwriters to evaluate a business by reviewing industry, business and government data, then deciding whether to accept or decline the risk. The underwriter is also responsible for pricing, as well as maintaining a steady flow of new and renewal business.
