About The Position

The Underwriting Technician position at CNA involves the timely and accurate processing of new and renewal insurance applications under general supervision. The role focuses on routine underwriting procedures for low complexity assignments, providing essential support to underwriters and ensuring compliance with established guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience; some college preferred.
• Typically a minimum of three years of related work experience in an office environment.
• Knowledge of policy processing procedures and documentation.
• Knowledge of applicable insurance products.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work at high levels of productivity and quality.
• Ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine selection, evaluation, and pricing of the least complex risks within designated authority.
• Assist underwriters by communicating with agencies on routine matters.
• Request underwriting and/or state mandated requirements based on guidelines.
• Perform data entry of insurance applications, verifying information and compliance with state requirements.
• Issue and assemble policies upon receipt of underwriter approval.
• Process cancellations, declinations, and reissues of policies upon request from underwriters.
• Review underwriting requirements and recommend acceptance or denial utilizing preset procedures upon request from underwriters.
• Provide assistance and/or training to other Underwriting Technicians as needed.
• Assist in special project work as required.
• Update the underwriting system as necessary.
