About The Position

This position will be hybrid for any candidate located within a 50-mile radius of an AmTrust office. Preference given to candidates based in the Eastern Time Zone. The Underwriting Supervisor directly oversees a team of underwriting assistants that are responsible for the region’s endorsement activity and handling of agent service requests. This role is responsible for managing the team to ensure quality, efficiency and compliance with underwriting standards. Communicates to the VP of Underwriting the daily challenges, progress toward goals and maintenance of turnaround times and other SLA’s.

Requirements

• 5+ years of P&C underwriting experience in Worker's Compensation, Businessowners or Commercial General Liability policies.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• High integrity and outstanding work ethic required.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, management, and agents.

Nice To Haves

• CPCU or CIC designation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Economics or Finance preferred.
• Strong understanding of workers' compensation insurance.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily service team workflow including task distribution and escalations.
• Supervise, train, and mentor staff, provide feedback, and manage scheduling and performance.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve issues or complications related to the process, operations, or agent concerns.
• Evaluate staff knowledge and efficiency by completing reviews, mentoring and promoting insurance education.
• Provide underwriting direction and approval to the service team adhering to underwriting standards.
• Track and maintain desired turnaround times and ensure quality of work being completed.
• Be willing and able to jump in and complete service work to support the region as needed.
