Requirements

  • 5+ years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Advanced working knowledge of the NA Casualty lines of business.
  • Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude.
  • Expert with underwriting analytical tools and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Handle accounts/clients that are most complex with greater underwriting authority.
  • Underwrite NA Casualty (i.e. WC, AL, USL&H).
  • Develop and manage underwriting strategies for renewals and prospects within the portfolio of accounts.
  • Implement negotiation strategies and make independent sales calls.
  • Identify target markets and design strategies for lead development.
  • Provide technical direction to management, less senior specialists, producers, and claims adjusting personnel.
  • Communicate risk appetite and NA Casualty Value Proposition to brokers.
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Territory Managers, and other underwriters to target desirable accounts.
  • Rapidly evaluate, prioritize and select submissions to be underwritten.
  • Recognize and create cross-sell opportunities for other Commercial products.
  • Work with brokers to understand deal structure and terms.
  • Review, evaluate and make recommendations to underwriting guidelines.
  • Conduct internal underwriting audits.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with brokers and clients.
  • Develop strong, long-term relationships with brokers and clients.
