About The Position

Perform and review premium audits of new and renewal excess and surplus lines accounts in accordance with established company guidelines to determine individual risk premiums. Review and analyze disputed audits to determine if a revision is warranted and provide professional and detailed responses.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree from an accredited institution is desired, but not required.
  • 4 years premium audit experience required with E&S Company experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as underwriting manuals, emails, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence in the English language using correct grammar and spelling.
  • Basic math skills and ability to operate office machinery.
  • Must have a working knowledge of general liability, property, and package underwriting, and be familiar with endorsements, including pro-rata and short-rate computations.
  • Working knowledge of most Microsoft programs such as Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, oral and written, are also a must.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written or diagram form.
  • Reasoning; dealing with problems involving complex variables in most situations.
  • Candidate must possess and be able to apply logical thinking skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designations such as APA, CIPA, CPCU, ASLI, AU or CIC are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The Auditor has responsibility for conducting internal (remote) audits by reviewing appropriate documentation and creating audit worksheets to detail correct exposures for all classifications.
  • Review audits completed by external vendors and process endorsements accurately.
  • Review and interpret documentation provided to dispute completed audits to determine if revision request is valid to warrant revision.
  • Assist with policy and audit reviews to determine if suit or litigation is appropriate on audit collection accounts.
  • Excellent communication skills, providing feedback and recommendations to general agents, underwriting, and vendors.
  • Be a resource in the assigned technical expertise.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Assist on special projects as requested.
  • Other functions may be assigned.
  • Mentors less experienced team members on audit rules and documentation review.
  • Acts as a technical resource for other members of the underwriting team and company.
  • Ability to complete a comprehensive individual audit summary worksheet.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of policy documents, company forms and endorsements, including various manuscript forms required on more complex accounts.
  • Ability to examine financial documents such as payroll journals and income statements to determine the correct exposure basis.
  • Working knowledge of underwriting manuals, guidelines, and classification rules.
