Are you a strategist who’s also mastered the complex details of workers’ compensation insurance and regulations? That’s the combination of skills SAIF is looking for in its new underwriting policy adviser. The underwriting policy adviser will lead the strategic development of underwriting policies and guidelines and serve as a technical resource for complex underwriting and regulatory interpretation to ensure compliance. In this role, you’ll help set and interpret the rules for how SAIF underwrites and prices workers’ comp, making sure decisions are consistent and meet regulatory requirements. You’ll evaluate underwriting selection and pricing performance, lead advanced data analysis and predictive modeling to inform enterprise pricing strategy, and develop and implement complex pricing and rating plans. While data is a large part of the job, excellent people skills are also required. You’ll represent the department on committees and advisory boards, partner with regional and other teams, and act as a liaison with IT to improve systems and workflows. You’ll also provide training, leadership, and mentoring to policy team members. To succeed in this important role, you’ll need seven years’ increasingly responsible experience in Oregon workers’ compensation underwriting or a combination of underwriting and data analysis/reporting experience. SAIF is a great place to work, offering strong benefits and meaningful opportunities for growth. Our team sits at the center of change within the underwriting department and across SAIF, contributing to a wide range of projects that drive positive improvements. If you have the skills and experience to contribute to SAIF’s success, apply today!
