The Underwriter will be responsible for developing comparative benefit packages, review claim experience, and apply underwriting guidelines to prepare renewal and/or prospect rates. This individual will support Marketing in completing group experience retention illustrations and address questions on request for proposals. The underwriter will analyze benefit plan characteristics and assess risks. They will also utilize underwriting criteria and policies to provide proper rating methodologies. This individual will provide technical subject matter expertise to the sales and account management on new and renewal Specialty Benefit offerings. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in financial protection underwriting
  • Supplemental Health (preferably) and Life/Disability products
  • Solid Math skills
  • Demonstrated forward thinking
  • Demonstrated solid collaborative skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience pricing groups over 500 lives utilizing experience information
  • Proficient with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial experience rating calculations and other ongoing financial reviews that directly aligns with client strategies
  • Validate renewals and request for proposals for accuracy including utilization and experience reporting
  • Conduct competitive analysis of all coverage lines and present financial and contractual findings to Management
  • Evaluate, recommend and negotiate pricing as well as providing potential alternatives and options for NB and Renewal groups with internal and external customers
  • Effectively communicate to sales personnel pricing recommendations and financial position
