Tokio Marine HCC - D&O, a member of the Tokio Marine group of companies, provides specialized insurance products. The Underwriter Assistant provides support to the underwriter/team by preparing review sheets, quote letters, generating invoices and binders, creating and following up on outstanding documentation/information required, handling broker inquiries, issuing and/or checking policies, processing endorsements, cancellations and handling of all file maintenance. Key Responsibilities: The Underwriter Assistant is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature and frequently non-routine. · Assists with Submission Input and Clearance if directed - includes Submission Letter Processing; BOR's (Broker of Record Notices Processing), Off Risk Letters; Declination Letters, etc. · Assists underwriters with quoting and binding of accounts including computer input of critical account specific data. Double checks all quotes & binders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements relative to the insured's state. · Account Follow Up - Creates and maintains an electronic diary system to follow up on items pending (i.e. requests for information, clarification of responses, applications, warranties, financial statements, copies of underlying policies, signed documents, manuscript endorsements pending from legal, etc.). Follows up with brokers for items pending and also on any premiums due with applicable notices up to and including cancellation. · Policy Issuance (creates policy dec page and endorsements for the initial policy and issues any subsequent endorsements as directed). Checks & corrects policies/endorsements created by others. Prepares and sends policy and/or endorsements to the broker. · Processes all mid-term endorsements as requested by broker/underwriter - AP's, RP's, run offs, NOC's according to procedures. · Heavy broker contact processing and responding to broker/insured requests in a professional and timely manner. · Renewals - Creates Non-Renewal notices as directed. Assists Underwriter with Renewal Submission receipt follow up. · Back up other underwriting assistants and phone coverage. · Performs other duties as assigned. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES: · Gain understanding of the underwriting assistant process: During the first 30 days learn how to process most daily tasks, with support with experienced assistants. · Understand more complex requests: During the first 6 months begin to understand more complex requests and assist with responses and back and forth dialogue with key partners.
