Cottingham and Butler is looking to add an Underwriting Assistant to our team in Dubuque, IA! This role facilitates the efficient processing of commercial insurance policies by managing documentation, data entry, and communication with internal and external stakeholders. The position ensures compliance with underwriting guidelines and contributes to the overall success of specialized risk programs. Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with insurance underwriting systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist underwriters in reviewing submissions for new and renewal business.
  • Verify that all required documentation has been received and coordinate with relevant teams to gather missing information.
  • Input and maintain accurate data in underwriting systems and internal databases.
  • Issue policies and endorsements within carrier systems.
  • Deliver policy documents and endorsements to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Manage the premium audit process for various lines of coverage across multiple programs.
  • Maintain organized underwriting files in accordance with carrier standards.
  • Update reports to support analysis of underwriting performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Claims and Accounting, when needed.
  • Create and update loss runs using claims data provided by external administrators.
  • Handle new and lost business notification and reporting processes across programs.
