Responsible for developing, managing, marketing, underwriting, and sustaining profitable business by providing high level technical and sales expertise with commercial insurance coverages for the clients of independent and retail insurance agents and brokerages. About Partner One: PartnerOne Environmental (a division of Specialty Program Group) is hiring an Underwriting Assistant in the Charlottesville office. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, the Underwriting Assistant will be responsible for contributing to the performance of the office by providing day-to-day support to the PartnerOne Underwriting Team. This is a critical role in supporting the success of the business and we are looking for a self-starter who has a strong attention to detail. This position has been the starting point for real advancement within our company as we have grown over the years. This individual will gain a thorough knowledge of the environmental and energy insurance industry and the opportunity to begin a successful career with one of the leading specialty Environmental Wholesale Brokerages in the nation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Less than 1 year of experience in customer service or similar type role
  • Intermediate level experience with MS Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Prior insurance experience preferred. but willing to train

Responsibilities

  • Handling of all post binding policy transactions including the processing of endorsements, cancellation, reinstatements and audits
  • Customer Service (answering phones, general correspondence)
  • Liaison between Agents, Brokers and Underwriters to ensure proper flow of requests
  • Finalize and maintain internal files
  • Various Marketing and Accounting Functions
  • Process and review insurance policies
  • Specialized projects for different departments
  • Serve as a back-up for other jobs as necessary
