Berkley Specialty Excess provides excess and surplus lines coverages for mid-market companies with hard–to place, specialized risks including, environmental (excess and primary); excess energy and excess for other industry verticals to be developed with the possibility of including excess general casualty that involve moderate to high degrees of hazard and require highly negotiated terms to meet buyer's needs. The distribution of products is limited to industry specialized brokers, wholesale for all products and large retail brokers for environmental products. The Underwriting Services Assistant will provide general operations support to the Underwriting Department including the processing of binders, policies, endorsements, submissions and other client related correspondence for new and existing accounts. Engages with the Underwriting Department to execute binder & policy issuance. Supports underwriting through processing of endorsements and related correspondence. Requests additional information for subjectivities, endorsements, surplus lines taxes and inspection reports. Issues notices of cancellation, non-renewal notices or reinstatements within authority. Responsible for ensuring accurate documentation is in the underwriting file as it relates to binders, policies, endorsements and other processing tasks. Professionally responds to correspondence via email and phone. Detail oriented and uses sound judgement to problem solve. Maintains a high level of accuracy in upholding policy guidelines and managing underwriting account information. Responsible for new and existing account clearance processing. Ability to prioritize work with little assistance. Other duties as assigned .
