About The Position

The Underwriting Assistant plays a crucial role within the Underwriting Support Unit, assisting underwriters in ensuring that the underwriting process is conducted efficiently and accurately. This position involves analyzing policy submissions, conducting quality control checks, and collaborating with underwriters to facilitate the end-to-end processing of new and renewal business. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and client servicing, with a focus on maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines.

Requirements

• 1+ years of related insurance experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and navigate multiple systems effectively.
• Willingness to learn from experiences and new situations.
• Client servicing skills to anticipate and meet client needs.

• Experience in data analytics and risk analysis.
• Familiarity with underwriting processes and operational drivers.

Responsibilities

• Analyze policy submissions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct quality control checks to adhere to division-specific guidelines.
• Partner with regional underwriters in processing new and renewal business.
• Evaluate submissions against prescribed criteria and document outstanding items.
• Assist in securing outstanding items from brokers.
• Identify and resolve account alerts and blocks during the submission process.
• Utilize underwriting systems proficiently and perform data analytics as needed.
• Assist with the issuance of quotes, binders, policies, endorsements, and cancellations.
• Prepare documents for reinsurance quotes and manage bureau crits on assigned accounts.
• Communicate account status to managers or underwriters to ensure completion of outstanding items.
