About The Position

We’re seeking an Underwriting Assistant to join our Inland Marine team, working directly with customers and providing support to our Underwriters. We specialize in writing Builders Risk, Transportation, and Contractors Equipment insurance across the country. This is an opportunity to be part of one of the best Inland Marine divisions in the industry. We pride ourselves on providing excellent service to our customers, which is a team effort from underwriting to processing.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of P&C insurance industry experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and sharp attention to detail.
  • Self-motivation and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload with little supervision and efficiently make sound business decisions within level of authority.
  • Basic to intermediate skills with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining electronic policy files on an on-going basis, including the assurance that policy files are properly documented and organized according to the department’s standards.
  • Issuing policies utilizing our automated systems in conformance with underwriting proposals and binding instructions within 48 hours of receipt from underwriter.
  • Requesting and following up for missing documentation from agents.
  • Processing of endorsements, cancellations and/or reinstatement of policies.
  • Issue New Business and Renewals policies within required timeframe.
  • Handle new submissions including clearance, submission set up and requests for additional information.
  • Provide customer service by responding promptly and courteously to all requests for status updates and information.
