Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan is seeking a motivated individual to join the Farm and Agribusiness Underwriting team for a challenging and rewarding paid internship. This fourteen-week internship program will primarily involve working with the Farm and Agribusiness Underwriting department, where the intern will spend time with both field and in-office underwriters. The intern will have the opportunity to see various kinds and sizes of farms and learn how insurance underwriting is conducted. The role will also include learning about the pivotal role of insurance underwriting in managing farm operations and spending time with the Risk Management Services Team to understand how loss control benefits both the insurance company and the farmer. The intern will be assigned several projects and tasks that will help the department achieve its underwriting goals, culminating in a Capstone presentation at the end of the internship. The intern will work closely with department management, primarily from home, with required office attendance every Tuesday. Weekly meetings will be held to discuss project statuses, and the intern will have opportunities to participate in rotational days with other departments such as Crop Insurance, Marketing, Claims, and Michigan Farm Bureau Membership, as well as group networking activities with other interns.
