Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Aviation Underwriter to join our dynamic Aviation Insurance team. The successful candidate will assess and analyze aviation insurance risks, determine appropriate coverage terms, and participate in the growth and profitability of our aviation portfolio. This role involves close collaboration with brokers, clients, and internal teams to provide best-in-class underwriting solutions for various aviation risks, including airlines, general aviation, aerospace manufacturers, and aviation service providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, business, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • A minimum of years’ experience in commercial insurance underwriting, preferably in aviation or specialty lines
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Sound understanding of aviation insurance products, coverage forms, and the aviation industry landscape
  • Proven negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and underwriting/CRM software

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designations (ACII, CPCU, or equivalent) are an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, analyze, and underwrite new and renewal aviation insurance business in accordance with company guidelines and risk appetite
  • Gather and assess information regarding aircraft, operators, maintenance practices, pilot qualifications, and claims history
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to drive portfolio growth and enhance customer satisfaction
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise underwriting recommendations and pricing proposals
  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and conditions to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Monitor and manage individual portfolio performance, including premium and loss ratios
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes
  • Contribute to product development initiatives and process improvements within the aviation team
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and compliance activities as required
