About The Position

MAXIS GBN was co-founded in 1998 by MetLife and AXA, two of the largest and most trusted insurance companies in the world. In 2016, MAXIS GBN became a joint venture and established itself in London with offices at Monument where we employ an international team of 100 staff, with another 100 based in eight countries around the world. At MAXIS GBN, we work with multinational companies to help them deliver employee benefits (EB) to their staff around the world. We are a market leader in the global EB space, offering global pooled and captive solutions as well as comprehensive wellness packages. We do this through working with a network of local insurance companies (members) in more than 100 markets globally. More than 80% of our member insurers are owned by MetLife or AXA, the other 20% are independent local insurers – all are experts in their markets and help us to find the right solutions for the local offices of multinationals and their employees based there. Our London headquarters houses support services from global marketing to finance to client reporting and underwriting while working with colleagues based in offices in locations across Europe, the USA and Asia. Core to our success and to that of the candidate will be the ability to innovate, think broadly, see/use information differently, and interface with sophisticated Captive reinsurers and Multinational clients.This position requires reinsurance and underwriting knowledge, coordination across the MAXIS Members. Negotiation skills are required when managing the relationship with the Multinational clients. The position requires Employee Benefits (Life, Accident, Disability and Medical) underwriting and re-insurance expertise. The incumbent will need to be able to work on underwriting strategy, collaboration with the MAXIS Members in multiple international locations, and provide best in class underwriting guidance.

Requirements

  • Degree level education (or equivalent) in Engineering, Actuarial studies, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent.
  • 3+ years (or equivalent) of experience in Employee Benefits; Life, Accident, Disability and Medical underwriting.
  • Knowledge of Employee Benefits; Life, Accident, Disability and Medical.
  • Good verbal, written and quantitative analysis communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a sense of accountability and prompt reply.
  • Organisational skills – ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially Excel.
  • Fluent English required. Additional language skills would be an advantage (Spanish, French…)

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate new business and renewal Life, Accident, Disability and Medical proposals from the MAXIS Members for the reinsurance of local policies and the inclusion in a MAXIS Global Programme. Ensuring these cases are appropriate from a profitability point of view and risk appetite.
  • Provide technical underwriting support to the MAXIS Members and our global clients.
  • Review and approve illustrations for our global clients relating to second-stage accounting for reinsured business; consider the addition, deletion or modification of participating policies in the global programs.
  • Collaborate with the MAXIS Business Development Team and the MAXIS Reinsurance and Reporting Team for the implementation and ongoing administration of key global clients and their programmes.
  • Ensure the Technical Templates are accurately completed by the MAXIS Members, stored correctly and submitted timely to our global client as appropriate.
  • Manage a portfolio of MAXIS Members including developing a technical relationship with the Member, understanding the specifics of the market and representing this within MAXIS and to our global clients. Monitoring this portfolio to ensure profitability expectations are achieved.
  • Manage a portfolio of Pool, GRS and Captive employee benefits programmes.
  • Assist with the analysing trends and the performance of our global programmes, identify the deficient accounts and help provide action plans and corrective measures for each global programme.
  • Exercising sound judgment when reviewing cases considering the local market practices and the MAXIS risk appetite, up to his/her level of review mandate. And referring cases above this review mandate within the MAXIS Underwriting Team or to the MAXIS Underwriting Committee.
  • Occasional client or Member visit in conjunction with the Business Development and/or Member Management Teams. This will also include conference calls with both internal and external stakeholders ie: captive risk manager, etc.
  • Contribute to the transformation of our processes, with a strong interest in AI and data tools, and collaborative projects.
