About The Position

The position involves independently reviewing and approving applications and renewals in accordance with carrier guidelines and procedures. The candidate will respond to referrals or traditional submissions from broker partners through a point-of-sale system within standard timeframes. They will determine appropriate pricing by applying predictive model results or recommended deviations in conjunction with Underwriting leadership. The role requires established proficiency with loss rating, composite rating, and other non-traditional rating methods. The candidate will prepare quotes, issue policies, and follow up for the completion of quote subjectivities. Additionally, they will prescreen renewal business and make recommendations for non-renewal. The candidate must be able to work autonomously, think creatively, and be accountable for the results of their assigned territory and/or brokers. They should understand the cause and effect of any adverse results and make recommendations to management for effective solutions. Keeping current with changing trends, economic indicators, competitors, and state regulations is essential. The candidate will maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. They will also contribute to team efforts by accomplishing established department goals and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 1-year Commercial Auto Underwriting experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Underwriting principles and ISO rules.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and perform multiple tasks and projects.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel overnight 10% of the time.
