About The Position

The Verus Trainee role is an entry-level position within insurance underwriting, designed to teach underwriting practices and their application to build and grow the Verus business. This position offers formal and on-the-job training, enabling trainees to develop a working knowledge of product language, underwriting practices, policies, and guidelines. It provides a defined career path and serves as an excellent first step into the insurance industry.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with a positive attitude.
• Detail-oriented with initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Computer literate, including use of Word, Excel, and various project management tools.
• Flexible and open to change, adapting to a competitive market.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

• Experience in insurance or related fields is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in formal or on-the-job training to learn underwriting practices.
• Develop a working knowledge of product language, underwriting practices, policies, and guidelines.
• Identify and act on opportunities to share knowledge with clients and customers.
• Network with peers and outside resources to exchange ideas and information.
• Compare company coverages to competitors and differentiate the company from others.
• Identify new product opportunities and explain company service capabilities to meet client needs.
• Apply standard pricing to exposures and utilize internal information systems to measure results.
• Analyze and evaluate the impact of producer performance on assigned book.
• Identify and assess exposures for each risk and perform detailed analysis to determine account acceptability.
• Negotiate standard coverage issues and gauge customer satisfaction.
• Develop and pursue prospective clients and follow up on their needs.
