Exceed their expectations. We have the following job opportunity in our New York City office: Description TransRe is seeking a Reinsurance Treaty Underwriter to join our US Custom – Regional team. This role is responsible for the technical evaluation, pricing, and negotiation of a diverse, multi-line property and casualty treaty portfolio. The successful candidate will serve as a key market representative for TransRe, and will collaborate closely with internal underwriting and analytical teams to deliver disciplined, data-driven underwriting decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the (re)insurance industry, in technical underwriting and/or actuarial roles
  • Strong understanding of actuarial pricing models and catastrophe modeling concepts
  • Ability to translate technical analysis into commercial decision-making
  • Relationship-driven mindset with a proactive approach to business development
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to travel domestically up to approximately 30%, with travel varying seasonally based on renewal cycles, client meetings, and industry events

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward or completion of CPCU, ARe, or other recognized re/insurance designations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leading the end-to-end underwriting of new and renewal treaty business within TransRe’s multi-line regional portfolio
  • Evaluating and negotiating treaty terms and conditions in alignment with corporate risk appetite and profitability objectives
  • Conducting underwriting reviews and coordinating and participating in claims and actuarial reviews
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with brokers and clients to cultivate new business opportunities and sustain long-term partnerships
  • Driving multi-disciplinary deal reviews to produce well-supported, timely quotations
  • Serving as a visible and credible market presence, representing TransRe at client meetings, industry conferences, and professional forums
