About The Position

This role supports the underwriting team with administrative and coordination tasks, with a focus on operations and compliance. The Underwriter - Operations Specialist ensures underwriting files and documents are maintained accurately and efficiently and contributes to the smooth functioning of operational workflows across the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to obtain a Washington State Property & Casualty Insurance Producers License (courses and testing provided by Company).

Nice To Haves

  • Math skills such as Business Math or basic accounting functions.
  • Experience in insurance operations or underwriting support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the underwriter or leader in managing new and existing accounts and organizing information according to Letter of Authority, if applicable.
  • Prepare and issue Certificates of Coverage as requested.
  • Record Documents (emails, faxes, mail, etc.) into the agency management system (Origami).
  • Process and issue endorsements.
  • Assist Underwriters with renewal applications, data entry, and renewal binding documents as requested.
  • Assist underwriters and leaders with tracking, updating, reviewing, and issuing pool coverage documents, including Memorandums of Coverage and Coverage Agreements.
  • Cross-train and assist other teammates with projects or tasks when needed.
  • Assist with other general office duties, including answering phones, processing mail, scanning, photocopying, filing, shipping, and ordering supplies.
  • Assist in tracking and renewals of CRS business and teammate licenses.
  • Assist Underwriting leadership with conducting internal underwriting audits.
  • Collect, review, and submit CSA information monthly.
  • Help monitor and maintain operational workflows and service standards for the Underwriting department.
  • Assist with system updates, procedural changes, and training materials.
  • Participate in projects aimed at improving efficiency and consistency across underwriting operations.
  • Prepare, interpret, implement, and update Underwriting procedure manuals.
  • Coordinate with underwriting, operations, IT, and compliance teams to ensure alignment on processes.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving operational and underwriting procedures.
