About The Position

Responsible within assigned authority to evaluate, classify and price new and renewal church and related ministry business, consistent with company established standards for growth and profitability. Provide assistance to agents in resolving issues with existing policies and/or answer questions with respect to coverage existence or availability.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to meet basic math and professional writing competency.
  • Proficiency in using computers and business software applications.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions.
  • Must have strong analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to handle difficult situations in a diplomatic manner and use negotiation skills in the resolution of underwriting and agency differences.
  • Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate complex concepts both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to develop creative solutions to problems and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and present a positive and professional image of the company.
  • Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department staff members.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree.
  • Must have two to five years of general business, insurance or related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • AU, CPCU, CIC or other equivalent insurance related coursework is desired.
  • Two to five years of relevant Property and Casualty underwriting experience is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, classify and price new and renewal church and related ministry accounts that are of small to medium size and/or minor to moderate complexity in order to achieve company growth and profitability goals.
  • Appropriately document underwriting files to reflect significant actions taken, thought process, pricing, and exposure analysis.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate underwriting decisions with agents in a professional manner.
  • Travel as needed to meet with agents and policyholders, and attend conferences or other training events.
  • Adhere to all state and federal regulations with respect to the completion of new and renewal church and related ministry accounts.
  • Meet individual processing/workflow standards established by the department and company management to meet agent and policyholder service needs.
  • Appropriately document all files so that other underwriters, department and company management, and external auditors can identify and understand action taken with respect to policy issuance, renewal and changes/maintenance.
  • Order risk control inspections as needed.
  • Present agents with risk control guidelines when hazardous activities are identified and recommend available risk management services to achieve increased profitability.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Underwriting Resource Center.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.
