About The Position

Primary goal is to lead the technical development of the existing Home Health Care Excess & Surplus Lines / Non Admitted Professional Liability product in conjunction with multi line offering of admitted General Liability, Auto, and Workers Compensation. This role functions as the lead Home Health Care Professional Liability Underwriter, working under direct supervision within the Health and Social Services department to meet profitability, retention, and written premium goals as determined by the Department. This can be a remote role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience required, 5-7 years of Home Health Care Excess & Surplus Lines / Non Admitted Professional Liability underwriting experience or equivalent training program preferred.
  • Possesses strong communication and analytical
  • Proficient in software needed to succeed in department.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing or having insurance industry designations such as CPCU, ARM, RPLU etc. is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for review and analysis of underwriting data to expand and maintain a profitable book of business under direct supervision
  • Manages agency relationships through continued customer service and supports marketing activities led by marketing manager.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to achieve departmental goals.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills to meet proper file documentation and compliance.
  • Works within assigned letter of authority.
  • Technical knowledge of current and potential classes of business. The focus of the role is on Home Health Care Professional Liability, but the candidate may be asked to support Assisted Living Facility Professional Liability underwriting.
  • Proficient in writing Professional and General Liability, with knowledge and experience of both Property and Auto coverages
  • Ability to consistently meet various deadlines
  • Work with Actuarial to further develop products and services.
  • Possess knowledge, critical analytical and strategic decision making skills to make independent underwriting decisions within letter of authority
  • Participates in training and initiatives to develop knowledge base.
  • Complete additional projects as assigned.
  • Effectively displays ability to build and foster both retail agency and wholesale brokerage relationships.
  • Manages assigned territory, agents and accounts
  • Some travel required.
  • Possess knowledge to make independent underwriting decisions and maintain proper file documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
