The Underwriter – General Aviation supports the aviation underwriting team by providing technical and administrative assistance throughout the lifecycle of general aviation accounts. The successful candidate will help assess risk, manage documentation, facilitate communication with brokers and clients, and ensure exceptional service delivery within the underwriting process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Prior internship or experience in property & casualty insurance, aviation insurance, or underwriting support is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with industry-specific software.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Interest in aviation and/or insurance industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing and evaluating submissions for general aviation insurance including hull and liability, airports, and related coverages.
  • Support senior underwriters in gathering required information, preparing quotations, and issuing binders, policies, and endorsements.
  • Conduct preliminary risk assessments, utilizing underwriting guidelines and tools.
  • Manage policy documentation, renewals, and mid-term adjustments with accuracy and attention to deadlines.
  • Liaise with brokers, agents, and insureds to gather additional information and respond to routine inquiries.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in underwriting systems and ensure data integrity.
  • Participate in policy audits and portfolio reviews to maintain quality standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of underwriting files for referral and review by senior underwriters or management.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.
  • Continuously develop understanding of general aviation markets, regulations, and trends.
