About The Position

NICO National Indemnity Company, a member of the Berkshire Hathaway group of Insurance Companies, is seeking to fill entry-level underwriting positions. This role does not require prior insurance experience, as we provide comprehensive on-the-job training to ensure the right candidate can succeed. Underwriters will utilize analytical skills to assess the risk involved in business operations and determine policy approvals, coverages, and premiums. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, as interactions will occur over the phone and via email with agents.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree or equivalent
• Knowledge of basic math
• Ability to solve problems and make decisions
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task

Responsibilities

• Review information from applicants to evaluate risk.
• Determine if applicants should be approved for a policy.
• Use technology and data to establish coverages and premiums.
• Communicate effectively with agents via phone and email.
