Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Risk Management, Business, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Trainee/Associate Level: Internship or academic exposure to insurance or risk management.
  • Mid-Level: 2-5 years of underwriting experience in property and casualty.
  • Senior Level: 5+ years of experience with a strong track record in E&S underwriting and portfolio management.
  • Must meet state requirements for P&C and/or surplus lines licenses (or be willing to obtain).
  • CPCU or other industry certifications are a plus, especially for senior roles.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new and renewal property and casualty submissions. Analyze policy forms, endorsements, and supporting documentation in line with company guidelines.
  • Determine risk acceptability, pricing, and coverage terms based on factors such as location, usage, safety features, and exposure.
  • Manage assigned accounts to ensure profitability and compliance. Contribute to business planning and forecasting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients. Collaborate across teams to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
  • Ensure underwriting practices align with regulatory requirements and internal standards. Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging risks, and market dynamics. Participate in training, seminars, and marketing activities.
