Make your mark in AIG Risk Management AIG is seeking a motivated Underwriter to contribute to our AIG Risk Management (AIGRM) team. AIG’s strong brand in the market has allowed for excellent client retention and relationships, along with our desire for strong growth and thus the need for underwriting resources. Our underwriters constantly deliver in an ever-changing marketplace and world. Areas of focus will be around our core coverages, General Liability, Auto Liability, and Workers Compensation.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Working knowledge of US Casualty lines of business (Workers’ Compensation, Auto Liability, and General Liability).
  • Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented.
  • Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
  • Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude.
  • Comfort with analytical tools and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and service an existing renewal book along with assistance to other team members.
  • Analyze and evaluate risk and accept, reject, or modify risk and coverage conditions within limits of delegated authority.
  • Underwrite complex standard and non-standard products, new and renewals.
  • Determine how pricing should be modified based on loss experience and evaluate complex exposures.
  • Communicate risk appetite and AIGRM Value Proposition to brokers.
  • Evaluate risk and give approval or declination for quotes.
  • Review new distribution opportunities and manage pipeline of opportunities.
  • Review difficult accounts and ensure they are issued accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in the training and development of Associate Underwriters and Underwriting Analysts.
  • Generate new business and provide underwriting guidance and appropriate rates for alternate plans at time of renewal.
  • Make independent sales calls to market and cross-market products.
  • Travel to broker/client meetings to serve as the AIGRM product expert.
  • Perform special requests for clients, such as business plan changes or analyzing new agreements.
