The Telecom Underground Laborer will perform a variety of tasks in support of outside plant design for various telecommunication installations at customer sites. This individual should have a basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in electrical, telecom and/or civil fieldwork and will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. The position will require travel throughout the Rochester area and will work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ related work experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineering schematics.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and pass a post offer, pre-employment physical assessment test.
  • Ability to travel throughout Western and Central NY as needed.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and have a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform outside plant man/hand holes and inside building installation of cables.
  • Perform field audits of existing outside plant.
  • Visually identify, inspect, and record equipment and structures in the right-of-way.
  • Perform various wireless installations and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with others (project managers, engineers, designer/drafters, and administrators) to help devise the best network and/or infrastructure solutions.
