As an UG Laborer/Groundman, you are responsible for providing general labor for aerial and underground construction projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge. This is a travel position for a project located outside of Barstow, CA.

Requirements

  • Track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
  • Ability to figure out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to work.
  • Looking for long term projects.
  • Enjoy getting hands dirty with the team.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process.
  • Must pass UI Test (urinalysis).
  • Ability to read and understand design schematics and maps.
  • Climbing certification or related experience.
  • Practical working experience in overhead construction for both RF and Fiber.
  • Knowledge of Overhead Bill of Materials.
  • City, County, and State clearance code knowledge and related.
  • Extensive knowledge of Network architecture and design for both RF and Fiber networks.
  • Flagger Certified for field work as needed.
  • Excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high volume work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general labor for aerial and underground construction projects.
  • Conduct various manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading building materials, and preparing job sites with hand tools.
  • Conduct general labor on construction sites.
  • Conduct placement of conduit as directed by Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Support with trench digging and closing.
  • Support with the movement of materials and vehicles as directed by Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Conduct maintenance services as directed by Foreman including cleanup, washing vehicles, and landscaping.
  • Be involved with vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified.
  • Tow various trailers with flatbed trucks.
  • Conduct Aerial/Underground work as needed and directed and as trained.
  • Troubleshoot RF and Fiber line and/or equipment issues.
  • Construct and repair underground RF and Fiber service.
  • Learn how to read and construct from a design schematic of map.
  • Learn all inventory and equipment required for these projects.
  • Learn and be certified on the use of equipment such as line truck, bucket truck, cable reel equipment, saws, and drills.
  • Climb poles with climbing equipment safely.
  • Move and relocate RF and Fiber service.
  • Be familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines.
