About The Position

TD&I Cable Maintenance, founded in 1987, has built a reputation for superior communication, installation, and quality service, initially focusing on coaxial splicing and aerial construction in Minnesota and Wisconsin. As the industry evolved, TD&I expanded its services in 1998 to include directional boring and plowing. The company has experienced significant growth, leading to the expansion of its corporate offices and warehouse in Hudson, Wisconsin, in 2000, and the opening of additional offices in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2010 and Cold Spring, Minnesota, in 2014. The Equipment Operator is responsible for the proficient operation of underground utility equipment, such as horizontal directional drills or plows, and must have knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe excavation practices. This role involves working closely with the Foreman to identify potential hazards and conducting job site analyses, often filling in for the Foreman when necessary.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an underground utility operator with a horizontal drill or plow
• In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, OSHA, and FMCSA/DOT guidelines
• Ability to translate and troubleshoot design prints, locate tickets, and permits
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to communicate and report effectively, with strong problem-solving abilities
• Good physical condition and stamina

Responsibilities

• Ensure maintenance/safe operation of the assigned equipment
• Work closely with Foreman and crew
• Identify underground utilities and interpret underground utility locate markings
• Understand and apply safe excavation practices on assigned projects
• Assist and operate combinations of commercial vehicles and trailers over 10,000 LBS upon qualifying for a DOT Medical Card
• Maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement if operating commercial vehicle and trailer combinations over 26,000 LBS
