About The Position

The Underground Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and inspection of underground electrical systems in accordance with project plans, company standards, and safety regulations. This role requires strong knowledge of electrical construction practices, blueprint reading, equipment operation, and OSHA compliance. The position ensures all underground installations are completed safely, accurately, and with the highest level of workmanship.

Requirements

  • Valid Electrical License (as required by state/local regulations).
  • Equipment Operator License (if applicable).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of underground electrical installation practices.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Wear required PPE at all times while on job sites.
  • Maintain electrical license, equipment operator license, and any required certifications on-site.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and report any unsafe conditions to a supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure trenches are properly barricaded or marked with caution tape when incomplete.
  • Confirm trenches and sleeves meet required depth specifications.
  • Cover all open trenches at the end of each workday.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment (check oil, grease, etc.).
  • Verify equipment is equipped with functional fire extinguishers, backup alarms, and horns.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical plans.
  • Perform layout and slab rough-in work.
  • Install and protect conduit systems.
  • Run jet lines in all conduit.
  • Install electrical junction boxes (including low voltage when required).
  • Install secondaries using uni-strut.
  • Install and assemble light poles and associated conduit.
  • Install ufer grounds at light pole bases.
  • Install temporary power, including power to job trailers.
  • Build T-poles as required.
  • Install pool lighting systems.
  • Run power to garages, carports, and EV chargers.
  • Ensure conduit installation is level, properly sloped, and positioned correctly near building walls.
  • Correct installation issues, including breaking concrete if necessary to meet proper placement standards.
  • Avoid installing damaged conduit (burned or bent from heat application).
  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite.
  • Dispose of trash daily.
  • Mark up prints daily (at minimum weekly).
  • Notify foreman when ready for inspections.
  • Coordinate daily priorities with supervisor or foreman.
  • Submit weekly material lists; eventually submit material orders via JotForm (ProCore).
  • Upload incomplete or deficient work into ProCore with photo documentation.
